Spin Gap, Electronic Crossover, and Charge Density Waves in Y-Ba-Cu-O Superconductors*

چکیده
This paper discusses recent NQR/NMR studies performed on Y-Ba-Cu-0 superconductors at the University of Zürich. The work is concerned with normal state properties which are still controversial, for instance the spin-gap effect, i.e. the opening of a pseudo gap in the electron spin excitation spectrum at a temperature 7*, which lies above Tc. We will report on the detection of "anomalies" which are displayed in the temperature dependence of several NMR and NQR quantities measured in the normal state of YBa2Cu408 . These anomalies are interpreted as an electronic crossover which involves a charge redistribution in the C u 0 2 planes and an enhancement of the charge fluctuations. As a possible mechanism of the crossover, a charge density wave instability is proposed.

NMR/NQR Spectroscopy
The NMR/NQR group has continued its general research plan of studying current problems of condensed matter physics by employing NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) and NQR (nuclear quadrupole resonance) methods. These spectroscopies allow one to investigate electronic properties in solids at a microscopic level and thus provide an essential contribution for a better understanding of the materials ...

Anomalous peak in the superconducting condensate density of cuprate high T c superconductors at a unique critical doping state Abstract The doping dependence of the superconducting condensate density, n o s , has been studied by muon-spin-rotation for Y 0.8 Ca 0.2 Ba 2 (Cu 1−z Zn z) 3 O 7−δ and Tl 0.5−y Pb 0.5+y Sr 2 Ca 1−x Y x Cu 2 O 7. We find that n o s exhibits a pronounced peak at a unique...
متن کاملSingularities in the optical response of cuprates
We argue that the detailed analysis of the optical response in cuprate superconductors allows one to verify the magnetic scenario of superconductivity in cuprates. As for strong coupling charge carriers to antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations, the second derivative of optical conductivity should contain detectable singularities at 2D1Dspin , 4D , and 2D12Dspin , where D is the amplitude of the s...
متن کاملSurface and gap parameter in high - T c superconductors : the Stripe Quantum Critical Point scenario
We study the single-particle spectral properties of electrons coupled to quasi-critical charge and spin fluctuations close to a stripe-phase, which is governed by a Quantum Critical Point near optimum doping. We find that spectral weight is transferred from the quasiparticle peak to incoherent dispersive features. As a consequence the distribution of low-laying spectral weight is modified with ...
